It has been a month since Toy Story 4 was shown in theatres. We do hope that you have seen it already, but in case you haven’t, digital HD and Blu-ray versions of the movie will be released hopefully by September.
It took a long while before the producers decided to make the fourth instalment of the Toy Story series, and the young fans who followed the previous 3 movies have already grown up. Many of them are probably parents now, so it is likely that they watched (or will watch and re-watch) Toy Story 4 together with their children.
So for the avid followers of the movie franchise who don’t just see the films but also collect Toy Story branded items, we ran a poll on Facebook asking them the question “Who is your favourite Toy Story character?” We also required them to provide the reasons for their choices for a more expressive and amusing discussion.
Of course, the poll was open to everyone! Whether fan, super fan, or someone who just watched all or any of the films, each answer was important and welcomed. For those who participated in the survey, thank you for your overwhelming responses and reactions!
Initially, we thought of omitting Woody from the choices because he would obviously be the number 1 answer (after all, he’s the main protagonist). The poll question would have been phrased, “Except for Woody, who is your favourite Toy Story character?” However, we did not want to deprive fans the opportunity to express their hearts out.
So here are the results…
1. Woody
Score: 32%
Top reasons:
- He always tries to please everyone.
- He’s true, loyal, and always there for Andy.
- He’s always positive, has a good heart, and tries hard to save everyone.
- Because he is an OG. (For those who don’t know what OG is, it means “old git” – slang for someone who's incredibly exceptional, authentic, or old-school.)
- He is the original character.
- Because my 2 year old likes him.
- He is super helpful and friendly.
- He’s a cool cowboy.
- He really cares and is so open with his heart.
- He is the leader of the group.
- Because he is nice and funny.
- Because he always knows what to do, and when he is lost, he always finds his way home.
- Because his hat is very cool.
2. Buzz Lightyear
Score: 16%
Top reasons:
- Because he is loyal.
- Whenever my granddaughter sees her Bampi's Apple watch, she always says "Buzz Bampi!" She knows which buttons to use to get Buzz up on the screen. Not bad for a 20 month old!
- Because he is always courageous and saves all his friends.
- All my children love Buzz.
- He reminds me of my little son.
- Because he is just so literal and I love how he has been used as a multi-gender neutral toy throughout the movies. He also shows some autistic traits which helps me to connect with him.
- Because he can fly and he is also very funny
- He has great character development throughout the movies.
3. It’s a triple tie among Jessie, Slinky Dog, and Forky!
Score: 8%
Top reasons for Jessie:
- Because she is a very enduring female character.
- I feel sad for her because of the way she was discarded by her original owner.
- She cares about other people.
- She is cute.
Top reasons for Slinky Dog:
- Because he's always behind.
- We own Dachshunds!
- He's always happy just like a real dog, and his bark is literally a bark.
- Because he’s a dog.
Top reasons for Forky:
- Because he is funny.
- Because he’s new, so cute, and cool.
- He is made from nothing and there’s such a side of him that shows his character more on the inside than on the outside.
4. A tie between Rex and Bullseye
Score: 6%
Top reasons for Rex:
- He is so funny!
- He’s the cutest T-rex I’ve seen.
- Because I wanna be a palaeontologist someday.
Top reasons for Bullseye:
- Bullseye is the best horse around!
- He has so much personality and is a much underrated character.
- He’s a loyal friend to all and is happy with life.
5. Bo Peep
Score: 4%
- She is so pretty in 1 and 2, and then she becomes GIRL POWER which is amazing.
- She is soooooo brave that she almost lost an arm.
Trailing behind the top choices are the following:
Mr Potato Head
- He’s an old school character who runs around with his detachable legs.
Hamm
- His sarcasm is ace and he’s the cutest.
RC
- He’s an underrated character that needs to have more exposure.
Duke Caboom
- He looks like the awesome cricket player, Mitchell Johnson.
Benson
- Because I love puppets and Benson is a puppet.
Chucky Doll
- He is scary!
Again, thanks to all those who participated and who shared their opinions in the survey! We hope you will join us again in our next poll. For the meantime, you may browse through our selection of Toy Story products.
