The 90s was a great era for many of us! For those who were kids back then, it was the period when we had so much fun playing with new and innovative toys (well, they were back then). Mind you, some of them still exist today. Toys like the Tamagotchi, Beanie Kids, Polly Pocket, and Cabbage Patch Kids are entertaining the new generation of youngsters and giving an experience of nostalgia among parents as well.
Thanks to DreamWorks, one 90s toy line stands out among the rest! You guess it right… it’s the Trolls! Because of the 2 recent blockbuster films, Trolls and Trolls World Tour, the Trolls are now more than just toys – they are larger than life characters that children (and parents) can relate to.
Love the Trolls? Check out our Trolls brand page for a great selection of Trolls figures, plushies, accessories, and other toys to add to your collection.
You adore them and you enjoy collecting them! But how well do you know about the Trolls? Read on and get to know more about these “ugly” but cute characters with magical hair (based on DreamWorks' Trolls and Trolls World Tour).
Poppy
Our lead character, Poppy is the queen of pop! She really loves singing and music, Poppy is a relentlessly upbeat – if slightly naive – Troll.
In the first movie…
She is introduced as Princess Poppy whose father, King Peppy, saved his subjects from the Troll-hungry Bergens. As she and her group of 9 friends, the Snack Pack, face their biggest challenge ever, Poppy is faced for the first time in her life with a problem that apparently can't be solved with a song, a dance and a hug.
In Trolls World Tour…
When the Pop Trolls’ way of life is threatened by Queen Barb, Queen Poppy sets out on a quest to unite the tribes once more…and show Barb the obvious error of her ways. But after some hilarious attempts at saving the day, Poppy discovers that being true to yourself is always the best answer.
Branch
Practicality is a thing for Branch, another lead character who is always there for Poppy. He has plenty of determination, is always prepared and on the lookout for danger. However, he can be overly cautions. Branch is not a fan of warm hugs.
In the first movie…
Branch is the over-cautious paranoid survivalist in Troll Village, who lives in fear of invasion from the Bergens. The only Troll in the village who doesn't sing, dance or hug, Branch lives a disgruntled
existence, constantly trying to prepare for the worst. He's perplexed by the over-the-top positivity of the other Trolls. Don’t you think he acts more like a human amidst a crowd of exuberantly happy Trolls?
In Trolls World Tour…
Branch is challenged to embrace his inner Troll, even if it includes a dreaded burst of singing and dancing. Will he learn to find inner happiness with Poppy at his side?
Biggie
- Not afraid to cry happy tears
- Big advocate of the short vest / no shirt look
- Loves to dress up Mr Dinkles in adorable little outfits for the photo shoots or flash mob dances
- Loves the cupcakes Mr Dinkles makes after drinking happy tears
Biggie is the biggest member of the Snack Pack, with the biggest heart. Underneath his imposing exterior, he's actually a huge softie, constantly bursting into tears during touching moments, or even at the sight of a particularly picturesque sunset.
He carries around a pet worm named Mr Dinkles with him everywhere he goes, and occasionally dresses Mr Dinkles up in adorable little outfits for impromptu photo shoots.
Creek
- Always knows what to say to cheer up others
- His freckles are made of glitter
- When he sings, other Trolls listen
- Somehow always manages to steal the spotlight and be the centre of attention
Creek is the most positive, supportive, reassuring Troll in all of Troll Village, approaching everything with Zen like wisdom. He’s calm, collected and capable. Being beloved by everyone sometimes has its drawbacks, and literally lands Creek in hot water.
DJ Suki
- Troll town's resident mash-up expert
- Wears headphones made of yarn
- Drops a needle-scratch noise during awkward moments
- Her playlist is always upbeat and up-tempo
DJ Suki can always be counted on to lay down some beats for an impromptu musical moment—of which there are many in Troll Village. Her DJ equipment is all natural, consisting of crickets, beetles and other little bugs that she scratches and mixes with to create a totally unique sound.
Cooper
- Crazy dance moves
- Wicked harmonica skills
- Always upbeat
- Full coat of Troll hair makes him especially magical
Cooper is a rarity in Troll Village! He’s a fuzzy giraffe-like Troll creature, with a goofy grin plastered permanently on his face. He’s the strangest member of the Snack Pack, but whatever he lacks in intelligence he makes up for in enthusiasm.
Guy Diamond
- Popular, but not pompous
- Shakes off clouds of glitter when he dances
- Speaks in an auto-tune voice
- The living disco ball at any party
Guy Diamond is the so called resident “Naked Glitter Troll,” with heaps of body confidence and a unique idea of personal space. He is a party on 2 feet.
Satin and Chenille
- Satin is the pink one while Chenill is the blue one – they’re conjoined twins
- Total BFFS – best fashion friends forever
- To them, 4 hands means quick costume changes during big Troll town events
- All about independence: never, ever wear the same outfit at the same time
Satin and Chenille, or the “Fashion Twins,” are the most fashion-forward members of the Snack Pack, and their fashion knowledge is extensive, covering everything from haute couture runways to the latest street fashions. They’re also conjoined twins—connected in a loop by their brightly coloured hair! Satin and Chenille are instrumental in putting together all of Poppy’s various dresses and outfits.
King Peppy
- Led the great Troll escape from the bergens 20 years ago
- Never leaves a Troll behind/li>
- A bit absent-minded but, if he ever misplaces anything, it's usually stuck in his hair
- Won't let anything stop him from protecting his Trolls... Not even his underwear
As the brave leader of the Trolls, King Peppy led his people on a torch-lit escape to freedom from Bergen Town. His heroism and valour were the stuff of Troll legend. Quick with inspirational words of wisdom, King Peppy ushered in a new era of happiness and security in Troll Village. He has become a grandfatherly elder statesman to the Trolls. A tad dottier and forgetful than he was as a young man, King Peppy brings some unintentional humour to the Trolls, but is still beloved by everyone in Troll Village, and his legacy lives on in his daughter Poppy.
Grandma Rosiepuff
- Possibly the most patient Troll ever
- Surprisingly strong and fast from chasing after crawling Troll babies
- Can lull even the fussiest Troll into a calming nap with her soothing songs
Grandma Rosiepuff keeps young Trolls safe so they can learn to let their true colours shine.
Moxie Dewdrop
- Invented the dance craze known as the Razzle Dazzle
- Frequently participates in dance-offs with guy diamond
- Performs interpretive dances to Cybil"s spoken word poetry
Moxie busts a move at any troll dance and always leaves the crowd chanting, “Moxie rocks!”
Smidge
- Little body with a big, deep voice
- Incredibly disciplined when it comes to fitness and nutrition
- Likes to fit in a quick workout during any dance number
- Jumps rope with her own long hair
Smidge is a teeny-tiny Troll with a shockingly deep baritone voice. Her hobbies include: weightlifting, listening to heavy metal, and crocheting.
Fuzzbert
- Really hard to hear under all of that hair
- Hair shakes when laughing
- Nicknamed “Twinkle Toes' when dancing
- Uses entire body to tickle other Trolls
Fuzzbert is an enigma wrapped in a riddle. He is a Troll that’s made entirely of hair—only his 2 feet are visible beneath a tuft of bright green Troll hair. He communicates with the other Trolls using guttural noises, which they all seem to be able to understand just fine.
Barb
Barb is the queen of rock and the rebellious leader of Hard Rock. She’s a fierce-looking Troll queen, with the strength and grace—as well as the attitude and swagger—of a rock goddess. Barb rides around inside a gigantic leather-and-denim-clad Troll creature that doubles as her tour bus, as she surveys her lava domain from an imposing fortress located at the centre of an active volcano.
Chaz
Chaz is an alluring, saxophone-playing Troll with a silky-smooth voice. Being the swankiest Troll in the land, he likes only the smoothest tunes—which is exactly why Chaz pledges allegiance to Smooth Jazz above all others (it never gets the respect it truly deserves).
However, it looks like that is finally going to change when Queen Barb rolls into town with her gang of rockers. She gives Chaz an offer he can’t refuse: track down Queen Poppy and her team, and she’ll give Smooth Jazz a tiny home of its very own.
Dickory
Dickory is one of the Yodelers, a pair of Austrian crooners who also happen to be 2 of the most-feared bounty hunters in the entire Trolls Kingdom. So deep is his love for yodeling that when Queen Barb gives him an ultimatum,, “Find me Queen Poppy or lose your music forever," he re-assures her that he’s willing to do whatever it takes to keep his music safe after her rock apocalypse.
Legsly
Legsly is tallest of the Pop Trolls and she loves being herself. The first to jump in and save Poppy, she can’t grasp that some Trolls out there don’t get the concept of "Hammer Time."
King Quincy
Things in Vibe City haven’t always been so laid back. Generations before, the Funk Trolls were forced to flee to a remote corner of the kingdom because the Pop Trolls were trying to steal everyone’smusic. They were trying to bland it out, de-funk it, auto-tune it—it wasn’t cool.
The Pop Trolls were not a priority for the king since one of his beloved twin boys, Cooper, was taken from him many years ago. Once Cooper finds his way home, and the royal family has been re-united, the king can finally sleep sound at night. King Quincy had nearly given up on finding Cooper after his egg rolled out of the nest many years ago. Now, with the royal family re-united, Cooper and his parents enjoy a tearful, heartfelt homecoming.
King Trash
The retired regent of the Hard Rock Trolls, King Thrash just passed the crown to his daughter, Barb. Although years of rocking all night and partying every day have taken a toll on the hard-thrashing monarch, he’s still got plenty of fight left. He goes everywhere on his motorised rock wheelchair—a mobile throne covered in black leather, adorned with metallic skulls, and with plenty of pockets to stash his nutritional-supplement shakes and water pills.
Prince D
Ever since he was a child, Prince Darnell felt like he was missing a vital part of himself, but he never knew why. When he was old enough to understand, Darnell’s parents told him the story of his twin brother, Cooper — how Cooper’s egg rolled out of the nest, and how the king and queen had searched high and low but had never been able to locate their long-lost son.
As the young prince entered his restless rebellious teenage years, he experimented with his parents’ funk music. He tried chopping it up, sampling it and rhyming over the funky beats that he made. He also took on a new, shorter royal moniker. He is known simply as "Prince D."
Queen Essence
Queen Essence has a cool and calm demeanour. She is an inspiration to her fellow Funk Trolls. Her prudent leadership has gotten the Funk Trolls out of more than a few tricky situations over the years, ushering in a new era where the Funk Trolls don’t have to worry about the Pop Trolls stealing their funky beats. When her long-lost son, Cooper, is beamed up and her family re-united, they continuously enjoy a harmonious sound.
Reggaetón Trolls
Representing the Reggaetón Trolls is Tresillo, the wildly hued leader of his people. They often face off against the K-Pop Gang with their signature "Mi Gente."
Tiny Diamond
Gruff and in charge, newborn Tiny Diamond’s glasses are almost as big as he is. Small but fierce, this rapper’s whole body is made of glitter, and he’ll throw that in your face.
K-Pop Gang
Unable to imagine an existence without their chosen art form of upbeat lyrics and infectious beats, the K-Pop Gang accepts the Reggaetón Troll Tresillo’s dance-off challenge for the right to bring Branch and Poppy to Queen Barb.
Trollex
As their leader of the Techno Trolls, King Trollex is tasked with keeping everyone partying safely, and of course—the most important royal duty of them all—dropping the beat. But when Barb and her band of hard rockers roll into town, she presents Trollex with an impossible dilemma: "Your people, or your string."
Trollzart
Who says classical music is boring? Certainly not Wolfgang Amadeus Trollzart, the wildly passionate conductor and leader of the Classical Trolls. All the Trolls in Symphonyville move in time to the snappy rhythms of Trollzart’s expertly wielded baton. They all adore their spirited, energetic leader as much as he enjoys wearing a cape with no pants.
With fluffy white hair and glittery, golden skin, Trollzart is quite an adorable sight to behold. That’s just what Queen Barb and her rockers discover when they roll into Symphonyville unannounced. They intimidate the feisty Trollzart into giving up the Classical Trolls’ precious golden string.
Riff
No one is more instrumental to the Rock Trolls’ success than Riff, Barb’s right-hand man. Riff is willing to do whatever it takes for her highness and the music that they share. If Barb says jump, he asks, "How high?" If she says rock, he asks, "How hard?" Riff may not look like much of a thinker but, in the end, he has a showstopping epiphany…even if he is just doing it all for college credit.
Delta Dawn
As the fearless boss of the Country Music Trolls, Mayor Delta Dawn is tasked with keeping the peace. She’s a whip-smart, youthful leader with an unmistakably beautiful singing voice, accompanied by her extravagant auburn locks and no-fuss attitude. In other words, she’s a radiant vision in crocheted cowboy boots.
With all her good looks, Delta Dawn is more than willing to get tough with anyone who threatens her traditional way of life. Because it reflects their hardscrabble world, country music means everything to the citizens of Lonesome Flats. As for Delta Dawn, she will protect her town and her music with everything she’s got.
Hickory
Hickory is a ruggedly handsome Country Music Troll. He’s got a singing voice that is as smooth as his saddle, and a re-assuring touch that is just as gentle. Hickory keeps himself hidden from new comers in Lonesome Flats, surveying them from a distance.
But when a tense encounter with Delta Dawn takes a turn for the worse, Hickory sees that the Pop Trolls are in trouble, and he swoops in to save the day. Throwing Poppy on his back and pulling the other Trolls behind him in a chuck wagon, he gallops out of town and carries them to safety. The thing is – Hickory is not what he seems to be, because he is Dickory in disguise working as a bounty hunter for Queen Barb.
