What is it with the colour green that we see it sensationalised in popular media and the fashion industry? People even coined phrases and vocabularies after the colour green, such as green living, green blooded, green culture, and green minded. We have superheroes whose names literally have the word green in them, like Green Lantern, Green Arrow, and Green Hornet. There’s also the supervillain and nemesis to our Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man, the Green Goblin.
Green has long been associated with the colour of life and vegetation. Maybe it’s because most plants are green, and plants are what makes our Mother Earth alive! Environmentalists often choose to use the green colour as part of their statement.
Yet, let’s not forget, green is also seen as the symbol of envy and jealousy. Remember how Shakespeare described jealousy as the “green eyed monster.” Also, Superman’s weakness is coloured green (it’s Kryptonite for those wondering what it is).
We scoured the internet to know the most popular green characters in cartoons, on TV, and in movies. Based on our research, we came up with this top list.
