Disney Brings Us the Lilo & Stitch Live-Action Movie

Disney movie fans who grew up in the 2000s are in for an extraterrestrial treat! Get ready to crash-land on Planet Earth ONCE MORE with the runaway creature formed from a genetic experiment in a far-flung galaxy. The mischievous yet adorable alien will sweep you off your feet again – this time in a live-action movie. A live-action re-imagining of Disney’s 2002 animated classic, Lilo & Stitch is the wildly funny and touching story of a lonely Hawaiian girl and the fugitive alien who helps to mend her broken family.

Directed by Dean Fleischer Camp, the Oscar-nominated filmmaker behind the animated feature film “Marcel the Shell with Shoes On,” the film stars Sydney Elizebeth Agudong, Billy Magnussen, Tia Carrere, Hannah Waddingham, Chris Sanders, with Courtney B. Vance, and Zach Galifianakis, introducing Maia Kealoha. Lilo & Stitch is produced by Jonathan Eirich, and Dan Lin – with Louie Provost, Tom Peitzman, and Ryan Halprin serving as executive producers; and Chris Kekaniokalani Bright and Mike Van Waes as screenwriters.

Join Stitch, Lilo, Nani, and Friends in a Live-Action Adventure

The excitement intensifies as we get near the date! Just like many movie remakes, expect some slight revisions in the live-action take. Will we get to see a new version of Nani, Lilo's older sister and legal guardian; Cobra Bubbles, the former CIA agent who became Lilo's social worker; or Mrs Kekoa, the patient woman and social worker who checks in with Lilo and Nani? We have no idea. Who knows? The alien leader might bring in some spice to the story.

Disney reveals, however, that there's a new character to watch out for! She is Tūtū, the quick-witted woman who speaks with a local Pidgin accent and long-time neighbour of Nani and Lilo. She is played by Amy Hill who was originally cast as Mrs Hasagawa in the animated series.
