Do you love “Lord of The Rings”? Have you read the 3 books, namely: The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, and The Return of the King? Have you also read The Hobbit, the series’ prequel? JRR Tolkien, the author of those books, has definitely made a mark in the literary world and even in modern day pop culture because of his stories. In fact, the LoTR (as how Lord of The Rings is abbreviated) has jumped from just being books to a series of block buster movies. Albeit a classic, LoTR is now a franchise that many people enjoy through modern forms of entertainment media which includes video games, toys, and merchandise items.
LEGO Fans and Lord of The Rings
When people have multiple interests, they tend to mash up what they can in order to make something more interesting about their hobbies. Take a look at these 2 friends, Rich-K and Big J, who are both LEGO aficionados and LoTR buffs. They put their LEGO building talents into the next level by re-creating the Battle of Helm’s Deep (a scene in LoTR’s second book, The Two Towers).
Rich-K and Big J uploaded photos of their work in MOC-Pages, a website where LEGO builders can hang-out and share pictures or videos of their LEGO builds. It's a place where people can ask questions and share tips on how to make their builds even better. So basically, it’s a community for everyone who loves LEGO.
These 2 LEGO builders had a patience of steel for them to complete their 150K colossal masterpiece. They had to make sure all the LEGO bricks and Minifigures fit well with the scene. They used 1,700 Minifigures and poised them in a way they look precisely as the 2 armies that were about to battle each other in Helm’s Deep.
The Minifigures were in the form of elves, orcs, and humans. They were suited-up as warriors with all the features and weapons needed for battle. They were armed with shields, helmets, swords, spears, bows and arrows, torches, and other medieval armaments.
An Outstanding Detailed Masterpiece
You will be amazed at how the replica was done! The fortress was built with care to make each section as realistic as possible. Albeit it had the size of a ping-pong table, the masterpiece was not built quickly. The very level of details required serious thinking, sophisticated planning, and patience. Luckily, time was on their side.
You can see the walls have jagged features and the ladders have orcs climbing and crawling while the humans and elves defend their fortress with valor. There is also a mountain in the background that realistically incorporates with the scene.
All its different angles have their own wonder and spectacle for viewers to see and be amazed at. It’s just an awesome piece and work of art that no LEGO fan can possibly ignore.
