Celebrate the Year of the Water Tiger with LEGO

- Categories : Blog

Xinnián hao (新年好)! Gong hay fat choy (恭喜发财)! It’s Chinese New Year’s month. This year, the official date of the Chinese New Year or Lunar New Year falls on the 1st of February. The Chinese New Year changes its date each year because it is based on the Lunar Calendar which follows the cycles of the moon, unlike our Gregorian Calendar which follows the complete revolution of the Earth around the sun.

In the northern hemisphere, the Lunar New Year coincides with the first bouts of Spring and the end of Winter. That is why the occasion is also called the Spring Festival.

Chinese New Year celebrations are marked with vibrant lion and dragon dances, colourful good luck charms being sold on the streets, and joyous family reunions. This year is the Year of the Water Tiger and every person, regardless of ethnic backgrounds, deserves good fortune.

It’s always fun to celebrate festive occasions with a gift. This February, LEGO revels with every festival-loving creature on the planet by launching the latest pair of Lunar New Year sets, an awesome GIFT for LEGO fans and Asian culture aficionados!
